Relationships

Building and maintaining a fulfilling and healthy relationship is hard work. Whether you’ve been together for five months or thirty years, relationships require effort and you may be encountering any number of challenges in your pursuit of a happy partnership. Relationship therapy may be helpful if any of the following resonate with you:

  • Frequent conflict amongst partners, oftentimes feeling stuck in your arguments, noticing they escalate beyond your control, or that they cause disproportionate distress.
  • Poor communication, ranging from misunderstandings to feeling as if you’re speaking different languages.
  • Lacking trust, perhaps because it never had the chance to grow in your relationship or feeling as if your trust has been shattered due to an acute betrayal, which can take many forms.
  • Discontentment or disconnection, which may have been growing for a long time or are feelings that recently bubbled to the surface and you aren’t sure what to do with them.
  • Stress navigating polyamory or ethical non-monogamy, which can arise whether you’re trying this relationship structure for the first time, you have mismatched ideas for the structure of your relationship, or if you have plenty of experience as partners and yet something doesn’t feel quite right.

Whether you’re experiencing any of the above or something else entirely in your relationship, you’ll find a safe and non-judgmental space at Zimmerman Relational Therapy to express and process all of your feelings.

I work with all kinds of relationships, no matter the structure. I love working with couples and have a particular passion for working with poly relationships. My goal with relationship therapy is to work myself out of a job. I want all partners in a relationship to benefit from the insight I can provide, to learn from the observations we make, and to grow together.
